First of all, this is a random, HUMEROUS blog, so this junk, while random as a response to this particular post, is, nonetheless, inappropriate for such a forum.

Secondly, nobody was protecting us during the Billy Bob Clinton years when the World Trade Center was first bombed either. I don’t think anyone from either party conceived of an al Qaeda that would be capable of such an attack or your hero Clinton would have taken Bin Laden when the terrorist leader was offered to him. Nobody was faultless on 9-11.

Thirdly, I don’t know where you live, but there hasn’t been another attack on the homeland here in the U.S. since 9-11, so I don’t live in fear. I feel relatively safe. In fact, Iraq is as safe as the state of California (which is comparable in population to Iraq) for our soldiers. More people are murdered and are killed in accidents EACH YEAR in California than all of our soldiers that have died in Iraq and Afghanistan combined since the wars started.

Next point on democracy, the U.S. is a Democratic Republic, not a pure democracy. Allow me to explain. We have a representative form of government that governs by the concensus of the majority while also giving the minority a say through elected representatives. This very legislature (with a majority of BOTH parties voting “YES”) gave our military’s Commander-in-Chief (the President, in this case, George W. Bush) broad authority to make war to enforce U.N. resolutions that were continually and blatantly ignored and defied by the late Saddam Hussein. So to say that this “democracy” is causing your limp-wristed, slack-jawed “cowering”, you have to look to your lefty friends who voted for the war just like the Republicans to place the blame correctly. By the way, that Iraqi war has been a great success and by hisorical standards, is the lowest casualty count of any extended war in American history! Don’t believe everything the media tells you about how badly the war is going because if all you ever see is the mayhem in the streets of Baghdad, are you really getting the full picture of a nation of over 25 million people that is mostly relatively peaceful with the thugs concentrated in ONE city and getting ALL the camera time?

Next, the U.S., while not faultless on the world stage, has largely been a force for good and has brought freedom to many. Soviet communism, for example, fell victim to our great nation, thanks to the vision and strength of one of our nation’s greatest Presidents-Ronald Reagan. He built our military to unprecedented strength and the Soviets were spent into bankruptcy through military initiatives under Reagan’s direction. Having the most guns is a good thing if you are a force for good in the eternal battle against evil. I want rogue nations and terrorist groups that seek to destroy us to feel threatened. This maintains the peace at home. And as for the war in Iraq, would you rather fight the terrorists in Iraq or have them on our shores bombing our cities and killing our families? I say fight them over there and let the professional military folks handle the terrorists over there.

There may be more points to address here, but I’m only going to address one more because I can only stand so much of the ignorance displayed in your comment. That point is that the only “friends” we have supposedly “lost” are those that are jealous of our strength and prosperity and the ones that were bribed by Saddam Hussein in the “oil for food” program/ scandal. It has now been shown that France, Russia, and others were “bought” by Saddam by giving them oil contracts in exchange for the money that was supposed to be earmarked for food for the average Iraqi family that suffered from the trade sanctions imposed by the U.N. That money instead went into Saddam’s pockets while your dear “friends” around the world voted against going to war along-side us because it was in their collective interest to keep Saddam in power so they could cash-in on all that oil. And people say WE went to war for oil! Those wimpy countries like France stayed OUT of the war FOR oil. They were blinded to Saddam’s atrocities by their greed. Besides we have all the friends we need in Great Britain, Australia, Kuwait, and others. Not everyone always gets along. I’m not so insecure in my nation that I think that we have to “make nice” with everyone around the world. But just wait and watch. When those “lost friends” start needing money, who do you think they’ll turn to for aid?
