It’s time for another caption contest! Same rules as always: write a caption for this photo, from whatever point of view you’d like. Just remember to follow the language rules here.

Here’s some background on these two together, if you’re interested. Of course, John McCain is the 2008 Republican Presidential candidate, and John Kerry was the 2004 Democratic Presidential candidate. McCain also tried to run in 2000 but lost to George W. Bush. In 2004, Kerry tried to get McCain to be his vice-president, while also offering him Secretary of Defense and other titles. But McCain refused the offer, because he believed Bush to be the better candidate (even though he didn’t like Bush much).

It’s time for another caption contest! Like normal, there’s no prizes, but you get to laugh at the randomness people can come up with. The only thing resembling a prize is that you get to make other people laugh, which is really worth a lot (in life, just not in money). Anyway, I’m rambling, so let’s get to the picture. Leave your analysis / commentary / captions in the comments.

If you haven’t heard yet, presidential candidate Mike Huckabee is now “Chuck Norris Approved”. Here’s the video. This is one of the coolest commercials ever.
It’s very rare to see a politician who actually has a sense of humor. But the overall message isn’t a joke — Chuck Norris has actually endorsed Mike Huckabee.
If only Huckabee would make Chuck Norris the secretary of defense or something like that…

I don’t post much political stuff here, because usually politicians have absolutely no sense of humor whatsoever. But sometimes they can be so crazy that their statements become somewhat funny (as long as they don’t get elected!).
Here’s a video of presidential candidate Ron Paul talking to reporters, and he’s got some crazy ideas. According to him, by talking to people, “You can change the world within weeks.” But he would have to be President to be able to do that, naturally. (Also, it should be noted that many countries don’t want to be changed, so talking isn’t going to do much about that.) And one of his first actions would be to “bring the troops home from Iraq, give them motivation, start talking to each other”. And that would cause the price of oil to drop probably $20/barrel.
He goes on to say that “a true terrorist is a very weak person” and “they really don’t have an army”. So according to him, we shouldn’t fear them, because “nobody can touch us; we should feel perfectly safe from any country ever invading us, at least in the foreseeable future.” Why does that not make me feel safe?
Here’s the video, so you can hear all of his ramblings.
I’m hoping he gets nowhere near the position of President!

We now have a new presidential candidate in the race : Stephen Colbert. This week he announced it on his show, The Colbert Report, and on Larry King Live. Here’s how he declared it :
“After nearly 15 minutes of soul-searching, I have heard the call. … I am hereby declaring that I will enter the presidential primary in my native South Carolina, running as a favorite son.”
He’s going to run as both a Republican and a Democrat, to let the people decide which party he belongs in. (So I reckon he’s an Independent.) While his views on the major issues may not yet be clear (not that they are for all candidates anyway), at least he’s really funny and says some things that real candidates are scared to say.
I’m curious about how many votes he will get in the South Carolina primary…
You can see some video of when he was interviewed by Larry King at this link : Colbert announces bid for the White House.
